The present and the future

Wow! Long time overdue for a new post, so here it is! We have been up to a lot of things since last time.

Here is a breakdown of the biggest things happening right now:

We are nearing the release of our first application!
We got a lot of projects just waiting to be started.
Soon we will also be a fully fledged company.
We will hold a lecture at NetPort day.

Our project that we have been working on is finally nearing release and we are getting more and more excited everyday. We are working with a major Swedish website and it has great potential on app store. More info closer to release!

We have also been meeting a lot of interesting and exciting people. Who has found us often more than we have found them. It is very fun to see how good social networking apps actually are working. These people have given us a lot of different, cool and exciting new ideas for projects. And remember, if you want to have an iPhone app developed, head over to “Contact us” and send us an mail with your ideas and contact info and we will see if we can work something out together!

The company part of us has also been developing rapidly. We are getting close to become a fully fledged company now. All the little pieces are starting to fall into place which is great to see, because it gives everything a great feeling that it is more real and close than before. We are also working on a new profile for the company but more on that in a later post.

The team has also been invited to hold a lecture at the NetPort day here in Karlshamn! It will be on the 23rd of april and there are going be three other interesting lectures about the different focus areas that NetPort works with. We will talk about how it is to work with the iPhone as a developing platform and how the market is shaping up. Be there!

A fresh new year and a fresh bucket of inspiration

Tadá! Our new homepage is finally online! The list of new features is long and I’m very satisfied with the result (It’s Martin who’s writing this by the way). The backend coding of the site has been greatly improved, it’s faster, more kind to the streams we’re fetching, and much more. You can now subscribe on our different streams through RSS. Just click the RSS-button in you web browser (in the navigation bar) and choose which stream you would like. The design has been completely overhauled and it blends in nicely with our new logotype. Also, the site at last looks okay on an iPhone, something that ironically wasn’t true for our last design.

Anyway, a few weeks back we returned to school after a relaxing winter break. We have been working hard since then and we are making amazing progress! We continue to use Goplan to keep track of our feature driven development model, and it is working great. We have even been in contact with one of the developers behind Goplan through Twitter, they really seem like a nice bunch of people!

We are also making some great progress with our upcoming iPhone applications. We still can’t go into details, but we are working on some fresh ideas and the development is going as planned. With some luck we will have our first application on the App Store in not too many weeks from now.

Last, but not least, we have gotten an addition to our team! Our latest member is Niklas, who will be working on creating a working business model for cocoa³. He will be writing business plans, researching the mobile application market, and much more. The result of his work will help cocoa³ to become a real working business after our graduation.

A Christmas Update

I have a confession to make, we suck at updating our blog. I blame it all on Twitter, they’ve made it all to easy for us to get away with this neglecting behavior.

Enough of that and on to the good stuff. As always there is allot of stuff is going on at the Cube. After a short road trip to the capital where we hooked up with two clients we decided to put the development of PictioNearYou on hold for a while. We are really excited about these two new projects but we can’t disclose to much information on what or with whom we are working at the moment. What we can tell you is that it is kind of big, at least for us and we think both apps will be a hit at the App Store.

Apart from the obvious coding that’s going on here we have been working a lot with structure and group dynamics within the project. SWOT’s and prejects flew hither and thither until we finally found a method of working that suited all of our needs. We found that an agile feature driven development model was the most efficient for us and we have implemented it with the awesome tool Goplan.

Christmas and New Year’s is approaching fast and soon we will be scattered all over the country to celebrate with families and friends. But we’ll keep working anyway, this is no time for rest. Here’s a little sneak peek of the new design for our webpage and logotype to get you in the Christmas spirit.

Breaking the Silence...

Time for a much needed update to our blog.

The days just fly by here at the “office” and we are steadily assimilating more and more information on the subject at hand - Cocoa! We have been working allot with Key-Value-Coding, bindings and are now slowly moving towards some Core Data, Core Animation and Cocoa Touch development.

I’m also proud to say that I (Magnus) have finally bought an iPhone. Our Apple trio is now complete! ^^

And now for some really exiting news: On the 3-4th of October we will be attending the iPhone Dev Camp in Copenhagen. So maybe we will see you there or if you’re not going you could just keep an eye on our Flickr feed for some updates. :)

It's alive!

Our mashup site is now running it’s first version online. Here you can look at our development blog (tumblr), our screenshot/photo feed (flickr) and our individual micro-blogging (twitter).

This is the very first version, and we’re going to improve it alot over time. Only problem is, we want to get starting on the Objective-C/Cocoa programming, and working on the site takes to much time ;-)

But for now, enjoy this glimpse into our project, cube of cocoa.

The First Post

The project is well on it’s way.

We have decided a name for our project and company to be — ”Cube of Cocoa”.
We have bought a domain — cubeofcocoa.com.
We have “hired” a designer to make a logo.
We have created a Flickr group for screenshots and project photos.
I (Magnus) have persuaded Martin to signup for a Twitter account for project related micro-blogging.

I’m currently working on a simple mashup page where we will display post from our blogg, our twitter statuses and a feed from our Flickr group.
